Security camera systems vary in terms of connection, power supply, and recording storage. The right choice depends on the environment where the system will be installed and the user's expectations.

Wired vs. Wi-Fi cameras

• Wired camera kits - provide a stable and reliable connection. They are suitable for places where there is no problem with laying cables, such as new buildings, offices, or businesses. The advantage is high image quality without interruptions.

• Wi-Fi camera sets - easy and quick installation without the need for cabling. Suitable for homes, cottages, small businesses, or where it is not possible to run cables. The advantage is flexibility and the ability to move cameras as needed.

• Standalone Wi-Fi cameras - ideal as an addition to an existing system or as a standalone solution for monitoring a specific area.

Recording and storage

Camera systems also differ in where they store recordings:

• NVR recorder - a central unit that allows you to store and manage recordings from multiple cameras.

• Cloud storage - a practical solution for remote access, but may involve monthly fees.

• Memory card directly in the camera - suitable for smaller systems or as a backup.

Camera power supply

• PoE (Power over Ethernet) - power and data transmission via a single cable, ideal for wired systems.

• Network adapter - standard solution for most cameras.

• Battery power - practical for outdoor Wi-Fi cameras without access to electricity.

Suitable use

• Family house or apartment - Wi-Fi kits are a common choice as they are easy to install.

• Commercial premises - wired systems with an NVR recorder are more stable.

• Cottages and recreational facilities - standalone Wi-Fi cameras with mobile app access are advantageous.

To take full advantage of your camera system, it is advisable to purchase monitoring accessories: cables, power supplies, mounts, monitors, or hard drives for storing recordings.
